The Special Events section plans, manages, and promotes citywide festivals and special events held in the City of Newport News. Individuals, community groups, and businesses can be part of these events as vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, and corporate sponsors.

One City, One Celebration- Victory Landing Park
Enjoy live music and children's activities. Cheer on the runners as they finish the Nautical Mile, the Maritime 8K, and the One City Marathon. Free admission, free parking. Food and beverage vendors ($).

27th Newport News Children's Festival of Friends - Newport News Park
CANCELLED. This event will not be rescheduled.
Due to the adverse conditions and rainfall that we have experienced over the past week, the City of Newport News has made the decision to cancel the 27th Annual Children’s Festival for the safety of the general public and festival participants. The festival grounds have been severely impacted and the conditions would not be conducive for vehicles and pedestrians. We apologize for the inconvenience. Kids ages 2 -12 will enjoy over 100 free hands-on activities, costumed characters, and free children’s rides. Food vendors ($) on site. $5.00 per car parking fee, all activities are free. 43rd Newport News Fall Festival of Folklife- Newport News Park
Southeast Virginia's biggest traditional craft show features over 200 vendors, traditional crafts and trades, folk entertainment, food vendors ($), and children's activities.$10.00 per car parking fee. Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism manages the scheduling of events at City Center at Oyster Point. If you would like have an event at City Center (wedding, charity event, etc.), please call 757-926-1400 and speak to the Special Event staff.
