The Management Services Bureau provides oversight to the Fiscal Services Section, Logistics Support Section, and the Planning & Technology Division, as well as preparation and administration of the annual budget, research, preparation, application, and coordination of federal and state grants, and liaising with the Newport News Police Foundation.
The Fiscal Services Section handles the payroll and personnel files for all departmental personnel; coordinates purchasing within the department; and monitors budget for all units during the year. The section tracks asset forfeitures and coordinates departmental personnel travel, and handles other special projects as assigned by the Chief of Police.
The Logistics Support Section provides facilities and resource administration for the department, including equipment, police vehicles, and maintenance of the physical plants.
The Planning & Technology Division handles department research and development, policy and forms development, accreditation through CALEA, crime and intelligence analysis, as well as meeting the technological management and support needs of the agency.
