The Newport News Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer Recruit. The test for the position of Police Officer will be administered at either the Newport News Police Academy, located at 5851 Jefferson Avenue, or Newport News Police Headquarters, located at 9710 Jefferson Avenue. Applicants can call to register, and to determine the location of the written test. The physical agility test will be held at Todd Stadium. The Newport News Police Recruiting Division conducts testing for police recruits every week. This includes a Written Test, Physical Agility Test and Assessment Exercise.
The Physical Agility Test and Written Test are held every Wednesday at the following times:
October through March
Written Test: 8:00 a.m.
Physical Agility Test: 1:00 p.m.
April through September
Physical Agility Test: 8:00 a.m.
Written Test: 1:00 p.m.

Every third Saturday of the month, members of the NNPD are at Todds Stadium at 8:00 a.m. available to assist anyone who may be experiencing difficulty with the Physical Agility Test.
