Shooting/Aggravated Assault

I’m MPO Brandon Maynard.  The Newport News Police Department needs your help to solve a recent shooting/aggravated assault.

On January 19th, 2020 at 3:19 AM, officers heard multiple gunshots while at Central Precinct. While checking the area, Communications advised of a shooting at the Waffle House, located in the 600 block of McLawhorne Drive.

Upon arrival, officers observed a crowd gathered near the two adult male victims who were suffering from what appeared to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

It was reported an altercation occurred between members of two different parties just prior to the shooting. There is no detailed suspect description at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
