Bank Robbery

I’m Assistant Public Information Officer, Brandon Maynard.  Newport News Police need your help to solve an business robbery.

On November 25, 2016 at 4:16 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union, located at 12891 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, in reference to a bank robbery. We need your help to help identify the robbery suspect and bring her to justice.

Bank employees advised an unknown woman entered the bank, approached a teller and handed a note, which implied employees would get hurt if she did not get cash. The teller complied and the woman left the bank on foot in an unknown direction. Forty-five minutes earlier, a woman matching the same description entered the Old Point National Bank at 13801 Warwick Boulevard, and was described as acting suspiciously. When asked by tellers if she needed assistance, the woman left the bank in a white truck which had been parked across the street.

The suspect is described as a black female, 5’5"- 5’6”, 50 – 60 years-of-age, thin build, medium/dark complexion, wearing a brown wig, black sunglasses, black jacket, dark pants and white/gray walking shoes. She was last seen carrying a red canvas bag with white lettering on it. The suspect implied she had a gun during the robbery.
