In September 2010, City Council unanimously endorsed eight strategic initiatives for the City of Newport News. Those were refined in December 2012 into five broad strategic priorities to guide city operations. But, what do these priorities mean for residents and how do city officials know we have been successful in achieving their goals?
Outcome measures were introduced in fiscal year 2016 as an objective means for decision-making and to indicate our progress in the work within each strategic priority. Outcome measures provide a starting place to communicate results or the change in the condition of well-being for children, adults, families and neighborhoods in the city due to public investments.
