Fire Hydrant Meter Applications can be requested through: Waterworks General Services Division Meter Shop, 425 Industrial Park Drive, Newport News, VA 23608 (757) 234-4913 or downloaded Fire Hydrant Meter Application (178.8 kb).
Associated Meter Costs
| 1" | $290 (Deposit) |
| 3" | $755 (Deposit) - with RPZ backflow preventer |
| 3" | $600 (Deposit) - truck mounted without RPZ backflow preventer |
| *$50 fee if Waterworks installs meter |
Meter to be picked up by applicant at Waterworks General Services Division Meter Shop (Lee Hall Complex).
Applicants call readings in each month and must reapply for a Hydrant Meter Service Permit annually.
Customers pay current water commodity rates & service fee. Monthly Service Fee is 1" = $25 and 3" = $75.
