Fire Hydrant Meter Application and Information

Fire Hydrant Meter Applications can be requested through: Waterworks General Services Division Meter Shop, 425 Industrial Park Drive, Newport News, VA 23608 (757) 234-4913 or downloaded Fire Hydrant Meter Application (178.8 kb).

Associated Meter Costs

1" $290 (Deposit)
3" $755 (Deposit) - with RPZ backflow preventer
3" $600 (Deposit) - truck mounted without RPZ backflow preventer
*$50 fee if Waterworks installs meter

Meter to be picked up by applicant at Waterworks General Services Division Meter Shop (Lee Hall Complex).

Applicants call readings in each month and must reapply for a Hydrant Meter Service Permit annually.

Customers pay current water commodity rates & service fee. Monthly Service Fee is 1" = $31 and 3" = $120.
