Waterworks New Customer Billing System
Waterworks announces new Customer Billing System effective July 5, 2007.

Newport News Waterworks will be installing a new customer billing system between June 27 and July 4. In order to complete start-up procedures, Waterworks must suspend customer service operations during this time. To avoid inconvenience during the shut-down, please make note of our temporary closing schedule.
All customer services operations except our automated phone service will resume on Thursday, July 5. When we reopen for business, we will offer extended call center hours until 7 p.m., Monday - Friday through July 20.
To assist our customers with bills due during the transition period, Waterworks will offer an extended grace period. We appreciate your patience as we begin using the new technology, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.
Waterworks shut-down schedule
Automated phone and internet payment service will stop Wednesday, June 27 at 5 p.m. Customer call center and walk-in service centers will close Friday, June 29 at 5 p.m.

When Waterworks begins using the new customer billing system, your billing statement will have a new format and will provide more information. In addition, both your account number and your customer number will be replaced with a single new account number. This change will take place beginning with your July water bill.
At that time, you will need to change your records and use your new account number when you pay your bill or contact us about your account. If you pay your bills online or use another type of bill payment service, it will be especially important to change your Waterworks account number with your financial institution or bill paying service.
In addition, to ensure that payments are properly credited to your account, payments will need to be made payable to Newport News Waterworks (not just “Waterworks.”).
Waterworks is pleased that our new customer billing system will allow us to offer a range of new services, including:

Take the guesswork out of your water bill! Budget billing levels out your payments across the year, so you can manage your household budget a whole lot easier.

With our improved web services you’ll be able to pay your bill, check your account balance, or track your payment history or water consumption history online.
