Bulk Collection Schedule Update

Important information concerning bulk collection.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
CONCERNING BULK COLLECTION
Effective Monday, July 11, 2011

Newport News is moving to every other week bulk collection to coincide with recycling collection days

Beginning Monday, July 11, 2011, the City of Newport News will start collecting bulk waste on a bi-weekly basis. Residents who receive curbside bulk collection from the Newport News Department of Public Works will have bulk items collected EVERY OTHER WEEK on the same day as recycling collections.
Example: If your recycling is collected on red Mondays, then your bulk waste will also be collected on red Mondays.
To dispose of debris between collection days, residents can use the Denbigh Drop-off Facility, which is located at 550 Atkinson Way and open 8 AM — 4 PM, Monday through Saturday.

Reminders
Put small items in your garbage can.
Allow at least 3 feet between your garbage and recycling carts, bulk debris, yard waste, and any other objects (i.e., cars, poles, fences and other obstructions).
Do NOT place any items for collection under low utility wires.
Do NOT place dark/non-transparent bags on the street. Put bagged waste in the trash cart.
