Stormwater Division of the Public Works Department

Mission Statement

The Stormwater Division is comprised of approximately 65 personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the stormwater system & vector control operations.

The mission of the Stormwater Division is to protect public health, safety, and the environment through the effective management, operation and maintenance of the stormwater systems, to provide vector control services designed to educate the public and to detect, reduce or eliminate potential disease carrying vectors.

Commitment

The Stormwater Division staff is committed to provide the best possible service to the citizens of Newport News. Our goal is to maintain all components of the stormwater system in a fashion that allows the system to function as designed, reduce potential for mosquito borne diseases and improve the capacity of Best Management Practices through effective and timely cleaning. We are committed to the training and development of our staff to promote efficiency and effectiveness in our operation.
