Notice to Solid Waste Customers: Labor Day Holiday Collection Schedule
Garbage, bulk and recycling collection for Monday will be collected on Tuesday. Tuesday’s collection will be on Wednesday, Wednesday’s collection will be on Thursday and Thursday’s collection will be on Friday. This schedule is for the holiday week only. Your normal collection days will resume on the week following the holiday.Public Works Department

To avoid the shattering of glass and the resulting safety issues of glass chards on lawns or streets, items containing glass are not collected as part of your weekly bulk collection service. This includes TVs with glass viewing screens.Debris Management Plan Receives FEMA Approval
The City of Newport News Public Works Department’s Debris Management Plan has received FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) approval, a requirement for agencies to participate in the Public Assistance (PA) Pilot Program.
