Chants of “I am happy, I am good” came from 34 children at Grissom Library on Wednesday, July 22. They chanted as an affirmation after their yoga lesson with Linetta Davis as part of the Newport News Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program.

Davis took the kids on a yoga safari adventure by doing poses that represented different animals. They stretched their bodies and worked their muscles by imitating fish, snakes, butterflies, elephants, and lions.

The Summer Reading Program continues through July 31 with free opportunities for adults, children and teens to win prizes and express themselves creatively with special events and contests. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Newport News Public Library, Library of Virginia, Captain D’s, Fazoli’s, McDonald’s, Hardee’s, Red Robin, Shoney’s, Starbucks and Outback Steakhouse.
