COUNCILWOMAN PATRICIA WOODBURY ELECTED CHAIR OF THE HAMPTON ROADS TRANSIT BOARD AND VICE PRESIDENT OF VIRGINIA TRANSIT ASSOCIATION

Newport News Councilwoman Dr. Patricia P. Woodbury has been elected Chair of the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads Transit’s governing board) and Vice President of the Virginia Transit Association.

Newport News Councilwoman Dr. Patricia P. Woodbury has been elected Chair of the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads Transit’s governing board) and Vice President of the Virginia Transit Association. On June 23rd she was elected to serve a one-year term, effective July 1st, as Chair of HRT’s board. She is currently Vice-chair. At the June 10th Virginia Transit Association (VTA) meeting, Dr. Woodbury was elected Vice President for a two-year term, also beginning July 1st.

"I am very honored to have been elected Chair of the Hampton Roads Transit board and Vice President of the Virginia Transit Association,” said Dr. Woodbury. “I look forward to supporting the vision and goals of these crucial organizations. After discovering the many ways our citizens and communities are impacted by improved transit, I will work diligently to advance the programs of both HRT and VTA."

In addition to serving on the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads and the Virginia Transit Association, Dr. Woodbury has been a member of the Newport News City Council since 2008. She has also served on the Newport News School Board, Sister Cities of Newport News Board of Directors, WHRO Board of Directors, and the Virginia Living Museum Board of Trustees. A Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Woodbury earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Longwood College, a master’s degree in School Psychology from the College of William and Mary, and a doctorate in Counseling/School Psychology from the College of William and Mary.
