Newport News Councilwoman Tina L. Vick was honored recently as the recipient of the first SunTrust Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award. The award was created to recognize and congratulate individuals and organizations in the Hampton Roads community who are committed to those same ideals of Diversity and Inclusion, and are creating a better place to live and work. Councilwoman Vick was nominated and chosen for her commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of Newport News through efforts in the areas of affordable housing, employment and job training opportunities, and summer jobs for youth.

"Thank you to SunTrust Bank for honoring me with the very first Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award,” said Councilwoman Vick. “I am proud to be a member of the Newport News City Council and represent the citizens of the south district. It is my desire is to continue working to implement policy and programs to enhance the lives of all of our residents.”

Born and raised in the Southeast Community, Councilwoman Vick has been a member of Newport News City Council since 2008 and represents the south district.
