Library offers internship program for teens

Pearl Bailey Library provides job experience for two community teens

Teens who live in the Southeast community of Newport News can apply for a new internship program at Pearl Bailey Library.

Teens who live in the Southeast community of Newport News can apply for a new internship program at Pearl Bailey Library.

 

The Youth Development Service Learning Program will offer two teens an opportunity to gain job readiness experience, explore a career in information services and youth development and give back to their community. 

 

The two teens selected would receive training in information services, youth development practices, and leadership skills. They will provide assistance at Pearl Bailey Library 10 hours a week, Feb. 2-June 20, 2009, and receive a stipend of $25 per week. The program is open to residents of Southeast Newport News aged 13 to 17.

 

Applications for the program are available at Pearl Bailey Library and from school librarians. Applications must be turned in to Pearl Bailey Library by Dec. 31.
