Teens compete in cupcake decorating at Library’s Summer Reading Program
Teens tested their cupcake decorating skills on June 30 at Main Street Library in Newport News as part of the Newport News Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Teens tested their cupcake decorating skills on June 30 at Main Street Library in Newport News as part of the Newport News Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program.
The Library provided edible materials for the 22 teens, ages 12-18, to use to decorate cupcakes in three categories: under-the-sea, aliens, and freestyle. Winners received gift certificates.
The Newport News Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program is free and open to children, teens and adults. It includes reading incentives and activities and continues through July 31. It is generously supported by the Friends of the Newport News Public Library System, Capt. D’s, Fazoli’s, McDonald’s, Golden Corral, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Shoney’s, and the Library of Virginia.
