The Newport News Animal Services Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for severely injuring two puppies found in the Hilton Village area of the City.

In December 2010, an approximately six month old white and tan brindle pit bull mix stray puppy was found in the Hilton Village area that had sustained severe injuries of unknown origin. At the end of March 2011, an approximately three month old black lab puppy was found in the same general area with very similar injuries. After medical examinations, it was determined that both of the puppies suffered from some type of chemical burn.

At this time there are no leads. Anyone with information about these incidents or the puppies is urged to call the Animal Services Division at (757) 595-PETS or the Newport News Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Crime Line callers may remain totally anonymous, are never required to testify in court and could be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
