CITY OFFICES TO OBSERVE LABOR DAY

Labor Day closing information

Newport News City offices will be closed on Monday, September 5, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. This includes City Hall, City offices at City Center at Oyster Point, Newport News Waterworks' customer services offices, the Public Works Operations Center, and both locations of the Treasurer's Office and Commissioner of the Revenue's Office (City Hall and Denbigh).

All Newport News public libraries will be closed on Monday, September 5.

All recycling and automated carts for the week will be delayed one day, i.e., Monday’s collections will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, and Thursday’s on Friday. Storm debris removal operations will continue seven days a week until completed including the Labor Day holiday. In order to accommodate the storm-related needs of the residents of Newport News, the Compost facility will be open on Labor Day. Compost facility hours of operation have been extended to Monday – Saturday, 6:00AM – 7:00PM, until further notice.
