Rock-It Men kick off Winter Concert Series

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – West Avenue Library kicked off the annual Winter Concert Series on Dec. 1 with a rockin’ performance by the Rock-It Men. The Newport News Public Library System presents free concerts for the public each year in the summer and winter.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – West Avenue Library kicked off the annual Winter Concert Series on Dec. 1 with a rockin’ performance by the Rock-It Men. The Newport News Public Library System presents free concerts for the public each year in the summer and winter.

 

Rock-It Men, a group of four local rocket scientists that has been together for almost 30 years, entertained an enthusiastic audience with music from the 1950s and 60s, including some holiday favorites. The 81-year-old West Avenue Library, located in downtown Newport News, is undergoing renovation.

 

Other upcoming concerts in the Library’s Winter Concert Series include:

 

· Rock-It Men

Rock-It Men, a band made up of rocket scientists, will present a free concert of music from the 1950s and 1960s, 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Grissom Library.

· Elliott Family String Quartet

This family ensemble will perform classic holiday music, 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at Pearl Bailey Library and 2-3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, at Main Street Library.

· Acclaim! Barbershop Quartet

Acclaim! will perform barbershop classics as well as holiday favorites, 2-3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Grissom Library.

 

Concerts are free and open to the public, with no registration required. Concerts are made possible by the Friends of the Newport News Public Library.
