UPDATE January 19, 2009: The January 23 and February 27 rain barrel “Make it and Take it Home” workshops are full. There will be workshops scheduled for March, April and May. Watch for new details soon!
Newport News Waterworks, Newport News Public Works, Newport News Master Gardeners, the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and the local Habitat for Humanity are hosting a Make and Take Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, January 23rd at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store 9614 Warwick Boulevard. The workshop begins at 10:00 am and concludes around noon.
The public is invited, but you must register by January 19th. The cost is $40, paid in advance, which includes all materials. Participants are asked to bring pliers, a flashlight and gloves to the workshop. You must be able to transport your barrel home.
To register for the event, call 926-1103 or go to www.nngov.com/waterworks. Registration ends at close of business on Tuesday, January 19th or when the 15 participant limit is achieved.
Future workshops will be held in the coming months.
