NEWPORT NEWS FIRE DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZES EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK

Newport News Fire Department Recognizes Emergency Medical Services Week

2010 May 12

Media Contact: Lisa King, Public Education/Relations Coordinator, NNFD, (757) 926-8404

May 16-22, 2010 is designated as Emergency Medical Services Week. The Newport News Fire Department responds to approximately 25,000 emergency medical calls every year with many patients requiring advanced life support. Victims and their families rely on our first responders to provide professional care. This year’s theme, “EMS: Anytime, Anywhere, We’ll Be There,” recognizes the commitment that emergency medical personnel make on behalf of the communities they serve.

Lieutenant Mark Kain was selected as the Emergency Medical Services Provider of the Year for the Newport News Fire Department from a committee of his peers, and the announcement was made during the department’s Recognition Ceremony in April. We congratulate Lt. Kain and recognize the dedication and commitment of our Firefighter-Medics that provide quality service to our community.

The Newport News Fire Department will participate in many community events this month including apparatus displays, education programs, and station tours.

For additional information, please contact the Newport News Fire Department at (757) 926-8404 or visit www.nngov.com/fire.
