Alexandria Payne has been named digital services manager for the Newport News Public Library System.

She previously worked as a webmaster for Pendergrass Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Library, media coordinator for Scripps Networks, contractor for an Institute of Museum and Library Services -funded grant for the study of Integrated Library System technical support and technical writer for the Schlager Group.

Her recent publications include co-authoring “A Report on the Status of Open Source Software in Libraries” in Library Review’s 2010 Special Issue on Open Source Software.

She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English literature from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and a master of science degree in information sciences from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
