Library System gets new logo, slogan
New year, new look
The Newport News Public Library System is kicking off the new year with a new look.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. 2010 Jan 04
The Newport News Public Library System is kicking off the new year with a new look.
Beginning in January, the Library System is using a new logo, slogan and color scheme to identify its four full-service public Libraries, the Public Law Library and the bookmobile.
Unlock the potential is the new slogan, and it is accompanied by a new logo that features a door opening into the sky. The Library System’s new colors are dark blue, light blue, yellow and silver.
The changes are intended to help the Library System communicate three key messages to the Newport News community:
1. The Library System provides opportunities to explore much more than just books.
2. The Library System provides up-to-date and cutting-edge technology; current formats, such as DVDs; as well as current best-selling books.
3. The Library System provides all services and programs free of charge, allowing users to save money.
The changes are the result, in part, of information gathered in 2008 from surveys from residents of Newport News who do not use the Library, as well as Library users. It was developed by a committee of Library staff members. The new slogan, logo and color scheme gradually will replace older logos, slogans and color schemes as new materials are ordered.
