RECYCLING COORDINATOR NAMED PRESIDENT OF STATEWIDE BOARD
Mayi Henriquez has been elected by the Board of Directors of the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) to serve as president.

As VRA president, Ms. Henriquez has active executive management of its operations and is responsible for carrying out the policies and fulfilling the purposes of the VRA, subject to the Board of Directors.
Ms. Henriquez holds a bachelor’s degree from Christopher Newport University. She has been employed by the City of Newport News since 1998, and has been with the Department of Public Works Recycling Office for 11 years. As the Recycling Coordinator, her responsibilities include educating the public on recycling, litter prevention, source reduction and conservation issues, as well as providing resources for achieving environmental responsibility.
About the Virginia Recycling Association
The Virginia Recycling Association (www.varecycles.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting recycling, waste prevention, reuse and composting. Board members include representatives of local government, industry, state agencies, non-profit organizations and interested citizens. Virginia Recycling Association activities support the development of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality statewide recycling programs and efforts to create and expand markets for recycling in Virginia. The Virginia Recycling Association is the only statewide association dedicated to recycling and enhancing recycling development opportunities in Virginia.
