NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the first time and just in time for the holidays, shoppers can purchase locally handmade craft items and help their library. A local group of knitters and crocheters is donating handiwork to help the Newport News Public Library System’s Virgil I. Grissom Library.

Everyone is invited to shop for homemade craft items 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at Grissom Library. Items for sale include hats, scarves, mittens, baby blankets, baby sweaters, bookmarks, lap robes, afghans, dish towels, market bags, ornaments and more. All items are knit, crochet and counted cross-stitch made by members of the Library's Loosely Knit Group.

The Craft Sale is presented by the Group in conjunction with the Newport News Public Library System Foundation. All proceeds will benefit Grissom Library.
