Knitting group to present a second sale to benefit Grissom Library

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Less than a month after their first successful sale, the ladies of Grissom Library’s Loosely Knit Group are doing it again. The local group of knitters and crocheters is donating handiwork to be sold to help the Newport News Public Library System’s Virgil I. Grissom Library.

Everyone is invited to shop for homemade craft items 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at Grissom Library. Items for sale include hats, scarves, mittens, baby blankets, baby sweaters, bookmarks, lap robes, afghans, dish towels, market bags, ornaments and more. All items are knit, crochet and counted cross-stitch made by members of the Library's Loosely Knit Group.

The Craft Sale is presented by the Group in conjunction with the Newport News Public Library System Foundation. All proceeds will benefit Grissom Library.

The group raised $680 for the library with the first sale on Nov. 20. Additional items will be available at the December sale.

The Loosely Knit Group meets 9:30-11:30 a.m. every Thursday at Grissom Library to work on crafts and socialize. Anyone who enjoys knitting, crocheting, or any craft is welcome, and no registration is required.
