HORNSBY TIRE COMPANY CELEBRATES NEW FACILITY IN NEWPORT NEWS

In 1935, the independent, family-owned Hornsby Tire Company opened in Newport News’ Southeast community. After more than 70 years, a new Hornsby Tire Company facility has been built at 3300 Jefferson Avenue, just up the road from their original location.

The City of Newport News, the Economic Development Authority and the Newport News Redevelopment & Housing Authority collaborated with Hornsby Tire Company on this expansion and relocation project. The state-of-the-art facility was designed to be consistent with the implementation of the South Jefferson Avenue Corridor Study.

To celebrate the opening of the new facility, Saturday, August 21 will be Customer Appreciation Day at Hornsby Tire Company. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a Ribbon-Cutting and Building Dedication ceremony that will include Newport News Mayor McKinley Price and other members of City Council. The day will continue until 3 p.m. with food, prizes, a DJ, rides, activities and tours of the new building.
