CITY TO RECOGNIZE HILTON AS A GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD

Ceremony to be held during the Hilton Village October StreetFest

Historic Hilton Village will be recognized by the City of Newport News during the Village’s October StreetFest celebration being held on Saturday, October 24.

As a 2009 recipient of the American Planning Association’s 10 Great Neighborhoods award, Historic Hilton Village will be recognized by the City of Newport News during the Village’s October StreetFest celebration being held on Saturday, October 24. StreetFest takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the city’s recognition ceremony will occur at 11:15 a.m. at the corner of Warwick Boulevard and Main Street.  The public is welcome to attend both the ceremony and StreetFest.

Participating in the ceremony will be representatives from the City, the American Planning Association and the Hilton Village community as well as children from the StreetFest costume parade. The APA and the City will present a certificate and proclamation to Historic Hilton Village and unveil a sign acknowledging the award.


About Hilton Village October StreetFest:
Hilton’s October StreetFest, hosted by the Hilton Village merchants, will hit the boulevard from 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 1009. Every fall and spring the Village is celebrated in a very special way. Booths offering art, craft, jewelry, food, flowers, health and beauty, home décor and more for Hilton’s annual festivals including concessions, music, children’s activities, demonstrations, and lots of fun for the neighbors and community. Make time to visit the many unique Hilton Village specialty shops.

The annual children’s Halloween costume parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Hilton Elementary School. Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles will fill Main Street as the children and families dressed in costume proceed to Warwick Boulevard. Everyone is invited to participate.
