2011 Nov 10

Beginning Friday, November 18th, the City will have a permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility for Newport News residents. With proof of residency, citizens can bring products such as paint, adhesives, thinners, gasoline, brake fluid, fertilizers, swimming pool chemicals, charcoal fluid, TVs and computers to the facility on Fridays and Saturdays between 8 am and 4 pm. The facility is located at the Denbigh Compost and Drop-off Facility at 550 Atkinson Way. This takes the place of the quarterly Household Hazardous Waste events the City previously held for residents.

A list of acceptable and unacceptable items is available on the city’s web site at www.nngov.com/public-works. Residents can also call (757) 886-7947, to ensure that the items they have are acceptable.
