The City of Newport News Hispanic Advisory Committee to the City Manager is hosting the International Soccer Invitational and Community Outreach Event on Saturday, August 20, 2011. This free event is open to the public and will take place at Riverview Farm Park, 100 City Farm Road in Newport News, adjacent to Menchville High School. The opening ceremony will take place at 8:45 a.m., with soccer matches and fun for the kids starting at 9:00 and lasting until 3:00 p.m.

Children’s activities will include inflatable slide, interactive games, and face painting. Musical entertainment and food vendors will also be on-site. Additionally, there will be informational displays from more than 25 community, city and civic agencies including Newport News Police, Newport News Public Schools, the Center for Child & Family Services, Health Department, Peninsula READS, DMV, Newport News Public Libraries, Parks, Recreation and Tourism, and more.

The soccer tournament will consist of eight community and local government teams representing various cultures and ethnicities including Korean, Hispanic, Bosnian, and European.
