Carnival on Monday kicks off summer programs
Free programs offered all summer for Southeast Community youth
Southeast Community youth can play games, dance, watch movies and live performances, take art and music classes, go on trips and more this summer through free programs offered by the Wickham Avenue Alliance.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Southeast Community youth can play games, dance, watch movies and live performances, take art and music classes, go on trips and more this summer through free programs offered by the Wickham Avenue Alliance.
The programs kick off 1-3 p.m., Monday, June 20, with a Carnival in the parking lot of the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center at 2410 Wickham Avenue, Newport News. The WAA Summer Kick-off Carnival features games, a rock wall, DJ, face painting, Kenya the Klown, Ronald McDonald and more.
Programs are offered throughout the summer free to youth, ages 3-18, by the Wickham Avenue Alliance partners, which are the C. Waldo Scott Center for H.O.P.E., the Doris Miller Community Center, the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, the Pearl Bailey Library and the YWCA of Virginia Peninsula.
