Newport News Department of Human Services to Have Limited Benefits Services Monday, August 30, 2010
Due to computer server issues at Virginia’s state-wide centralized information technology site, the Newport News Department of Human Services (DHS) benefits area will have limited services available on Monday, August 30, 2010.
Newport News, VA 2010 Aug 27Due to computer server issues at Virginia’s state-wide centralized information technology site, the Newport News Department of Human Services (DHS) benefits area will have limited services available on Monday, August 30, 2010.
DHS benefits affected include new applications, interim reports, renewals, or verification for SNAP (food stamps), TANF payments, and Medicaid. DHS will be open for all other services.
Paper copies of the “Application for Benefits” will be available in the DHS main lobby at 6060 Jefferson Avenue and the Denbigh office at 368 Deshazor Drive. Benefit applications are also available online at http://www.dss.virginia.gov/form/ . Computer access is available at Grissom Library, 366 Deshazor Dr.; Main Street Library, 110 Main St.; West Library, 2907 West Avenue.; and Pearl Bailey Library, 2510 Wickham Avenue.
State agencies known to be affected are: Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Taxation, Virginia Department of Transportation, Department of Social Services, and others.
