NEWPORT NEWS PARKS, RECREATION & TOURISM AND THE MAYOR’S COMMITTEE ON DISABILITIES HOSTS THE 19th ANNUAL DISABILITY AWARENESS DAY

Event is free and open to the public!

2010 Sep 21

Disability Awareness Day (D.A.D.) was established in October of 1990 out of a need to highlight the capabilities of persons with disabilities. The 19th Annual Disability Awareness Day will be on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News.

The City of Newport News’ Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department has been serving citizens with disabilities since 1973 and has made a commitment to further the public awareness of their talents, services in the community, and concerns. Patrick Henry Mall has been a staunch supporter and co-sponsor from the very beginning. Countless individuals and agencies have volunteered their time over the years to make this event an annual reality.
