Local authors invited to connect with readers at Newport News Libraries

Published and self-published authors in the Newport News area are invited to connect with patrons during Local Authors’ Days this summer at the Newport News Public Libraries.

Published and self-published authors in the Newport News area are invited to connect with patrons during Local Authors’ Days this summer at the Newport News Public Libraries.

Main Street Library, Pearl Bailey Library and Virgil I. Grissom Library will each host a Local Authors’ Day as part of the 2012 Adult Summer Reading Program. Participating published and self-published authors will have a table set up to sell and sign books and talk to patrons.

Local Authors’ Days will be 2-5 p.m., Saturday, June 30, at Main Street Library; 2-5 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Virgil I. Grissom Library; and 2-5 p.m., Saturday, July 21, Pearl Bailey Library.

Authors who are interested in participating must drop off one copy of their work at the Library where they want to participate along with a completed application form by May 18, 2012. Application forms are available in each Library and online. Authors will be assigned tables on a first-come, first-served basis according to available space.
