The Ultimate Cheapskate returns with a new book! And this time, he’s paired with another author whose best-selling new book provides tips on the “the best time to buy this, do that and go there.”

 

Jeff Yeager, author of the soon-to-be released book “The Cheapskate Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of Americans Living Happily below Their Means,” and Mark Di Vincenzo, author of “Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon,” will share their tips and strategies for saving money and getting the most for less, 1-4:30 p.m., Saturday, June 5, at Main Street Library.

 

The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

 

In one of the first appearances for his new book, Yeager, the NBC “Today” Show’s “Ultimate Cheapskate,” will discuss “The Cheapskate Next Door,” answer audience questions and take orders for the book, 1-2:30 p.m. The book will be released on June 8. Yeager visited Main Street Library in August 2008 to promote his first book, “The Ultimate Cheapskate’s Road Map to True Riches,” which was published by Random House/ Broadway Books in January 2008 and was the No. 1 Personal Finance book on Amazon.com.

 

Then Mark Di Vincenzo, a former Daily Press editor, will give tips from his book that proves that timing is everything, answer questions and sign books, 3-4:30 p.m. Released in October 2009 by HarperCollins, “Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon” is a New York Times Best Seller. It was the No. 1 travel, reference and consumer guide book on Amazon.com. Di Vincenzo has discussed his book on the “Rachael Ray Show,” CBS' “Early Show,” and NPR’s “All Things Considered” and “On Point” programs.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers of Newport News will be on site to sell copies of the book.

More about Jeff Yeager

Jeff Yeager spent 24 years managing national nonprofit organizations in Washington D.C., before launching his career as a writer, public speaker, and media personality in 2004.

Specializing in an offbeat blend of original humor and practical advice for living a better life with less, he was dubbed "The Ultimate Cheapskate" by Matt Lauer on the NBC “Today” Show, where he periodically appears as a guest correspondent. He also hosted a series of television segments, “$aving Green by Living Green,” on Discovery’s Planet Green network.

 

He is the author of two books, “The Ultimate Cheapskate’s Road Map to True Riches” and the forthcoming “Cheapskate Next Door,” both published by Random House.

 

Yeager has written for and/or been featured in a wide range of media outlets, including: AARP The Magazine, CNN, FOX News, NPR, New York Times, PBS, Reader’s Digest, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. His popular blog, The Green Cheapskate, is syndicated worldwide by Hearst Publishing on leading environmental and news websites.

 

Since leaving the work-a-day world, Yeager is an active volunteer, serving on the boards of four nonprofit organizations involved in education and the environment.

 

He currently lives just outside of Washington D.C. with Denise, his wife of 26 years, and Gomer, his beloved compost pile. He grew up in rural Ohio, and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Bowling Green State University. He was a Rhodes Scholar nominee and was voted funniest student in his fourth-grade class.

Mark Di Vincenzo worked as a journalist for 24 years, making a name for himself as a reporter who exposed abuses and as a writer who made the complicated seem simple.

During that time, he won numerous awards, then became an editor. He left daily journalism in the summer of 2007 to start Business Writers Group, a company that writes for corporate clients.

Born and reared in Cleveland, he lives in Newport News with his wife and two youngest daughters. His oldest daughter attends the University of Oklahoma. “Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon,” is his first book.
