Newport News Animal Services has received a $95,465 Grant from PetSmart Charities® for its Feral Cat Program Outreach and Services. The grant comprises funds totaling $95,465 to be distributed to the City of Newport News over two years for the purposes of providing equipment, outreach materials, and spay/neuter surgeries in promoting TNVR (Trap Neuter, Vaccinate and Return) and assisting registered feral cat colonies established in compliance with Section 6-53 of the City code. The City, through the Animal Services Division, will use grant funds to acquire equipment (traps, trap covers, trap dividers), prepare outreach materials, and provide approximately 1,700 spay/neuter surgeries on feral cats over the two year period.
