Mayor’s Youth Citizen of the Year Award

Nomination Forms Available for Youth Award

Nomination forms are available for the Mayor's Youth Citizen of the Year Award.

Newport News, VA 2011 Jan 14

Do you know a youth who excels in community service, leadership and citizenship? Nominations are available for the Newport News Mayor’s Youth Citizen of the Year Award. You can nominate any high school freshman, sophomore or junior who excels in community service, leadership and citizenship. The student must be a Newport News resident.

The winner will receive a plaque, savings bond, lunch with the Mayor, act as a youth ambassador at City events, and serve as a youth spokesperson for the 2011-2012 school year.

Nomination forms are available for download at http://www.nngov.com/human-services or you can contact Anita Walters at (757) 926-6648. Nominations are also available at community centers and libraries.

The deadline for submission is Monday, January 31, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. They can be faxed to 926-6118, emailed to youth@nngov.com or sent to Anita Walters, Communications, Public Information Coordinator, Newport News Department of Human Services, 6060 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23605
