CITY PREPARES FOR APPROACHING WINTER STORM SYSTEM

The City is preparing for and monitoring the winter storm forecast to hit the area beginning tonight and continuing through Saturday and into Sunday morning.

The City is preparing for and monitoring the winter storm forecast to hit the area beginning tonight and continuing through Saturday and into Sunday morning. Nine sand spreaders and 18 snow plows are standing by and Public Works crews will be working beginning 8:00 p.m. tonight through Sunday to clear roadways. In anticipation of the projected snowfall, all Newport News public libraries will be closed on Saturday, January 30. Additionally, all Newport News recreation centers will be closed Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31.
