The City of Newport News Hispanic Advisory Committee to the City Manager is hosting a free Newport News Community Outreach and Soccer Invitational on Saturday, August 14 at Riverview Farm Park.

The City of Newport News Hispanic Advisory Committee to the City Manager is hosting the Newport News Community Outreach and Soccer Invitational on Saturday, August 14. This free event will take place at Riverview Farm Park, 105 City Farm Road in Newport News and open to the public. The opening ceremony will take place at 9:45 a.m.
Entertainment for the kids will include a rock climbing wall and inflatable rides and food vendors will be on-site selling Papa John’s Pizza, Hispanic food, BBQ, etc. Also on site will be informational displays from more than 20 community, city and civic agencies including Police, Sheriff, Fire, U.S. Army, Newport News Public Schools, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Transitions Family Violence, the Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, and the Center for Child & Family Services. Music will be provided by the Post-D band and Selecta AM 1050 WVXX.
Eight community and local government teams will play a total of seven soccer games in the tournament, utilizing two fields, with winning teams moving forward in the tournament. The game schedule is as follows.
Game #1: 10:00 a.m. - Newport News United vs. Norfolk “Pistoleros”
Game #2: 10:00 a.m. - Newport News Fire Department vs. Virginia Beach Police Department
Game #3: 11:30 a.m. - Heavy Duties vs. Deportivo Anti-Social
Game #4: 11:30 a.m. - Toluca vs. Chiapas
Game #5: 1:00 p.m. - Winner of game #1 vs. Winner of game #2 (Semi-Final)
Game #6: 1:00 p.m. - Winner of game #3 vs. Winner of game #4 (Semi-Final)
Game #7: 3:00 p.m. - Winner of game #5 vs. Winner of game #6 (Championship)
