Newport News Police need your help to solve a recent homicide.
At 5:21 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014, police communications received several calls of a shooting in the area of 33rd Street and Jefferson Avenue. When officers arrived they located a vehicle in front of a home the 600 block of 33rd Street. The driver was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by medics to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 5:57 p.m. We need your help to solve this homicide and bring the guilty to justice.
The investigation revealed 79 year old Clinton Stonewall Jackson, Sr. of the 500 block of 44th Street in Newport News, was shot while driving his car westbound on 33rd Street. The vehicle came to rest in front of a residence after striking a chain link fence. Based on witness information, at some point during the incident an unknown male was seen running from the victim’s vehicle. At this time detectives have not determined a motive or suspect(s) description..
