Community Resource Fair and Instructional Show & Tell
 

Newport News Parks, Recreation, & Tourism’s Instructional Programs Division is hosting its First Community Resource Fair & Instructional Show & Tell at Denbigh Community Center on May 21, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00pm.

This event is FREE and open to the community. Instructional Programs’ aim is to contribute to promoting awareness of the many valuable resources that are available to members of the community including the wide array of affordable classes offered through Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism. These classes are purposed to help incorporate learning, fun & fitness in families’ lives every day. Other community resource providers will be in attendance as well such as Targeted Outreach, Healthy Families Initiative, and Partnership for Youth -divisions of the Department of Human Services; Youth Career Café; Newport News Drug Court; Newport News Sheriff’s Office; United Way; Mary Immaculate’s Family Focus, Newport News Fire Department Touch-A-Truck and  Safety Escapes and more.

Featured will be free class demos such as Zumba, Rhodes to Fitness, Tahitian Hula/Belly Dancing, and Yoga; Family Focus workshop topic “Media Violence-The effects on our children”; take home children’s craft; free refreshments and prize give- aways. 

Instructional Programs & Facilities will also be sharing some of the exciting new changes scheduled to occur over this summer at Denbigh such as the center being opened for room rentals beginning in July 2010, new décor, and regular hosting of community events such as the upcoming Family Game Day also in July.

We hope this event will create excitement and increased participation at DenbighCommunity Center as well as assist in promoting the many resources available to the community.
