Celebration in Lights, Virginia 's first drive-through holiday light event, will open for its seventeenth season on Thanksgiving night (November 26, 2009). Newport News Park will be transformed by over half a million individual lights creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m., through January 2, 2010.

The magic of the holiday season comes to life as reindeer leap overhead from the dark winter woods, candy canes twinkle along the roadside, and rainbow-colored scenes reflect on the park's ponds. Traditional holiday scenes include “Winter Wonderland” with penguins, skiers, and snowflakes and “Santa's Enchanted Kingdom ” with elves, toys, and Santa.

Hours and admission are: Sunday- Saturday 5:30 - 10:00 p.m., $10.00 per car and $50.00 per bus. Newport News Park is located at the intersection of Ft.
