The Denbigh-Lee Hall Computer Lab was created through a grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA). Open computer time is available Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00A – 2:00P. Instructional classes are held Mondays & Wednesdays from 2:00 – 4:00P and include:
Level I – Computer Basics: For the person new to the computer.
Level II – Computer Skills Refresher: A refresher on keyboard functions, MS Office and Internet access.
Level III – Navigating the Internet: With a focus on the latest websites for seniors (My Medicare Matters and BenefitsCheckUp), this level also includes E-Banking, Facebook and other social networking sites.
BenefitsCheckUp, developed and maintained by The National Council on Aging (NCOA), is the nation’s most comprehensive Web-based service used to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources. It has more than 1,700 public and private benefits programs from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, to include: Prescription Drugs, Nutrition (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Food Stamps), Energy, Financial & Legal Assistance, Health Care and Housing, Social Security and In-Home Services, Tax Relief & Transportation, and more.
Use of the computers and classroom instruction listed above are free and available to those who pre-register. Classes are ongoing. Call 886-7907.
