The Active Lifestyles Program at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center offers an early morning track-walking program in addition to its later scheduled fitness and Yoga classes.

Instructional classes are scheduled throughout the week including acrylic, oil and watercolor painting, line dancing, Golden Steppers tap dancing and more. "The Essence of Modeling" classes are offered quarterly.

The center also offers AARP Defensive Driving classes, health and safety seminars, cultural enrichment programs, monthly BINGO programs, nutrition seminars, craft shows, cookouts, fashion shows, and an array of educational opportunities. Clubs include: rubber stamping, crochet, scrapbooking, the Busy Beaders and the Fashion Elegantés Modeling Club. The Center is located just off Jefferson Avenue. The Active Lifestyles Program at the Denbigh Community Center (DCC) offers daily fitness activities including the Morning Stretch and the walking program. A variety of fitness classes are offered for the older adult including Strength & Balance Fusion, Yoga, Fit Chicks and Tai Chi. Participants can also sign-up for computer classes for beginners and the advanced, line dancing, AARP Defensive Driving classes and more. The Center hosts special events such as periodic health screenings, speaker’s bureau, cultural enrichment programs, and educational seminars. Clubs include: Pinochle, Bridge, Book Club and the Socrates CafĂ© discussion group. Open recreation in the gym is offered Thursdays and Fridays from 1-4 pm, and includes pickleball, badminton, shuffleboard and basketball. The Center is located in the Stoneybrook area of Newport News and is open to the public.

The Active Lifestyles Program at Doris Miller Community Center offers structured programs through “Wisdom in Motion”. The Wisdom in Motion group meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Center and participates in exercise/walking programs, bingo, pinochle, health fairs, health screenings and various celebrations. “Fit-Natics” offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Membership is open to new participants.
 

Located in the Southeast Newport News community, the facility includes a large gym, game room, dance/exercise rooms, and meeting areas.

The Hilton Senior Center (HSC) offers rotating daily activities of pinochle, billiards, card tournaments and group meetings such as the retired men and women’s group. Upholstery class, Tai Chi classes, health screenings, AARP Defensive Driving classes, line dancing and special events are also scheduled.

The Center is available for groups to rent for special functions, receptions, meetings, parties, or recitals. There are three separate rooms and a large kitchen available. Hilton Senior Center is located in the Parkview Community of Newport News. For facility rental information call

The North NN Community Center's (NNN) programs include sewing, pinochle, line dancing, Civic League meetings, and special events such as African-American history programs, picnics and informational seminars. The Silver Threads and Golden Needles Sewing Club meets weekly.

The Center is available to rent for special functions, receptions, meetings, parties, or recitals. There is one large room with a kitchen available. Located in the North Newport News community, the Center is located between Jefferson Avenue and Warwick Blvd. For facility rental information call 591-4853.
