Harry Potter Traveling Exhibit
Explore the magical world of Harry Potter through the traveling exhibit "Harry Potter's World: Renaissance, Science, Magic, and Medicine". This exhibit will be in display at the Grissom Library from Sept. 5 - Oct. 16, 2010.

Although a fantasy story, the magic in the Harry Potter books is partially based on Renaissance traditions that played an important role in the development of Western science and medicine. The six-banner traveling exhibition was created to explore the link between Harry Potter and the history of science using materials from the National Library of Medicine. - Sept. 11, 2:00 pm - Harry Potter Kick-Off Program
Families can enjoy craft and food stations, and kids can compete for prizes for the best Harry Potter costume. Prizes will include gift bags from Barnes and Noble Booksellers and other Harry Potter items.
- Sept. 18, 2:00 pm - Movie Showing, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"
- Sept. 21, 7:00 pm - Author Talk by George Beahm
George Beahm, author of “Fact, Fiction and Folklore in Harry Potter’s World” and “Muggles and Magic,” will speak about his books on the Harry Potter universe.
- Sept. 25, 2:00 pm - Movie Showing, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
- Oct. 2, 2:00 pm - Movie Showing, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"
- Oct. 9, 2:00 pm - Harry Potter Book Series Discussion
Families can join Kara Keeling, English professor at Christopher Newport University, for a discussion of the Harry Potter series.
- Oct. 16, 2:00 pm - Movie Showing, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince"
