Targeted Outreach Program
Targeted Outreach Program – “TOP”
The Targeted Outreach Program is a City-wide interest and needs based gang prevention program run by the Central Referral Agency. Our goal is to provide constructive alternatives to gang involvement for at-risk youth. The Targeted Outreach Program consists of community and City programs and organizations dedicated to providing youth with a safe haven, positive role models and opportunities to develop skills and relationships that will enable them to become productive citizens.
The Targeted Outreach Program aims to:
- Refer youth to programs where they can be involved in positive activities and peer groups in their free time
- Develop healthy relationships with caring adults
- Offer assistance in making a conscious decision not to be involved in gangs or other criminal activity
- Improve self-esteem, school performance, and family relationships
- Enable youth to make positive contributions to their family and community
The Targeted Outreach Program has partnered with over 25 agencies and programs throughout the City who have committed themselves to improving the lives of youth who are at-risk for gang involvement. Some of the programs and activities offered by “TOP” providers include mentoring, tutoring, health and life skills, sports, fitness and recreation, and character and leadership development.
