Department of Social Services - Benefit Programs
The U.S. Repatriate Program under the Social Security Act, Title XI, Section 1113, provides for temporary financial assistance within the United States for United States citizens and their dependents who have returned or been brought to the United States in cases involving destitution, illness, war, threat of war, invasion or similar crisis, and who are without available resources to return.
The United States Department of State identifies the persons who qualify for aid under this program and notifies the Office of Family Assistance (OFA) and Health and Human Services. Through the Virginia Department of Social Services Economic Assistance Unit, the local department of social services is alerted to the arrival of repatriate and dependents.
