The information provided does not constitute a comprehensive list of all personnel policies and procedures of the City of Newport News. Various personnel actions may also be governed by the City Code, the City Charter, City Council actions, City Manager administrative regulations, and federal and state laws and regulations. |
All policies presented here are in .pdf file format and require a reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, to view. Adobe Reader is a free program which can be downloaded by visiting the company's website at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. The manual is also available in hard copy in many City departments. In the event of a conflict between the internet version and the hard copy signed by the City Manager, the latter version will prevail. The Department of Human Resources oversees the Personnel Administrative Manual and should be contacted when questions arise.
