Each full holiday is observed as an eight-hour day. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the City recognizes the preceding Friday as the holiday. When the holiday falls on a Sunday, the City recognizes the following Monday as the holiday. In order to receive holiday pay, the employee must be in an active pay status on the working day before the holiday.
Employees assigned to work schedules which require holiday coverage are granted compensation in the form of eight (8) hours pay or equivalent time off with pay.
